Feverworm Review
Last month I made a small order from Feverworm. I'd seen their work pop up a few times in the Artist Alley and Draw threads on /cgl/ and was absolutely smitten! I love the coloring style and eye sparkles. As soon as I saw the phone straps of Red and Alice, I immediately bought them. Impulsive, sure, since I haven't collected phone charms in a long time, but no regrets! NONE!
I was surprised to see more included in the package besides a business card. There's even a cute little doodle on the printout.

Twin Bow Sets + Necklaces
More stock made for the picnic/swap. Sadly, nothing sold, but that just means more for the online shop! I used most of what was left of the pink and white mokomoko yarn. There's still a teeny bit left that I'm unsure what to do with at the moment. I knitted 4 sets of hairpins, 2 pink and 2 white.

Pastel Fluff Bows
Nothing gets me fired up to make stuff like having an opportunity to sell in person. I was invited to a cosplay swapmeet/picnic last weekend and decided that I needed to have more variety in my stuff. I'd bought this yarn a while ago and only really used it for accents like on the fluff phone straps or making fluff balls. It's way easier to knit fluffy yarn because I don't have to worry about missing stitches. However, my knitting skills are extremely limited, so I made what I usually make! BOWS!

MokoMoko Animals
I saw Captain America: The Winter Soldier on the weekend it came out. Highly recommend. Before the movie, my friends and I shopped around the area. I don't live anywhere near where we saw it, so it was a bit more exciting and interesting for me. On impulse I bought more fluffy yarn, something I have a love/hate relationship with. It's cute, it's soft, but damn is it hard to see stitches when working with it. This is a little different since it's not fluffy all around but closer to eye-lash type yarn. I got it in 2 colors, white and pink.

Spring Strawberry Bows
Pink strawberries and minty bows are totally spring colors. At the last monthly lolita swapmeet I heard a girl comment that the red/brown strawberry bow was cute but mori, or something to that effect. I sold the other pastel one at the meetup before, so after that it seemed like a good idea to make more of the pink strawberries. It's seasonal and even though most of the girls that showed up to that meet up were wearing black (including myself) there are still others strongly into sweet !

"Jude" by DROPS Design
Another Christmas craft, this time for Lolita Secret Santa. This was made using a part of this DROPS Design pattern. I liked the look of the center with the rose and such and made a small shoulder pouch instead of a backpack. The creamy yellow fabric is what I used for lining.

Bunka Face Pins 3
I know, more bunka faces. This time I had a theme. I started these faces on January 5th, which I guess is when I had the last post scheduled to be up! January 5th is Hayao Miyazaki's birthday. In honor of him, I watched some of his movies. I was going to try to watch as many as I could and go in order, but I ended up only watching three, and I skipped Totoro. I know, how could I skip My Neighbor Totoro? I had the order wrong in my head.
I started with Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind then Laputa / Castle in the Sky. Totoro was supposed to be next, but for some reason I thought it was Kiki's Delivery Service. I'll be honest, I wasn't feeling Laputa as I was watching it, but I pushed through it with the excitement that Kiki would be next since it's my favorite. So...I skipped Totoro and went straight to Kiki. No regrets.
Anyway, as I said at the beginning, I had a theme in mind as I made them. Miyazaki film heroines. Loosely based on them, since their colors are very similar and very natural. Either dark or redish hair and dark eyes. While I love that they do look so natural, it doesn't mean much diversity with the pins. I had to make some color changes.

Bunka Face Pins 2
They kind of remind me of M&Ms. The green one in particular, and I guess the brown one now too since it's female now. Mostly the one on the left though, the one on the right is more generic kawaii face. Whatever, I think she's cute.

Bunka Face Pins
Faceless bunka pin is a little weird to look at, isn't it?
Originally I was going to make a wrist strap phone strap with blue, but with the scallops causing it to curve so much, I thought it could work well as a trim or something instead. Somehow I ended up with a bonnet and started sewing up a white circle to make a face. Hair, pearls, bows later and I ended up with this.

Kawaii to Kowai
To get out of doing a Flash animation for my artist and computer class, I said I knew how to use it [which i sort of do...]. In place of Flash, I had to learn Dreamweaver, which I still barely know how to use. I learned enough to put a 4 page website together though! If I actually had it available online I'd link it. I can however share the artwork I drew up for it!
The teacup above was really just a last minute picture I put together since I didn't know what to put on the main page and needed to fill space...That's why it's so sloppy and generic.

Collars and Sparkles
After a sudden urge to crochet a collar without a pattern, I did it. I did however have to look up how to do ribbed stitching with crochet. Just crochet in the back loops. I'm sure I looked this up before, but at least now I know for sure.
Made the above collar in one night, around 6 hours maybe? I don't know. It's still not done, I don't have buttons for it. My boyfriend did wear it at the Haunted Chessboard party, and it was held together with two flowers on a wire. It needs 4 buttons though...I don't know what I was thinking.

Black and White Crowns
X
The making of another crown. This is the same process I went through my white crown from earlier this month. Since I forgot to take pictures of the progress, I made sure to get some of this one. It really isn't much though. Suppose I could have at least taken a materials shot...

White Queen's Crown part 1
I'm sorry that it takes so long for me to post! I wish I was more crafty, but I'm always too tired after school to do most creative things. It's hard to find motivation. And now that I finally have it, I'm starting to slowly lose it. Come sooner winter, so that I'll have more free time.
This year, the San Diego Lolita group is hosting a Halloween event called Haunted Chessboard where, of course, chess is the theme. Which is quite perfect for me really since I own an all white dress and all I need to do is accessorize it all chess-like. My boyfriend will be attending too, so we're going as a pair of opposite pieces, the White Queen and the Black King. Mostly because I don't own any full black lolita dresses/skirts/jsks, and he doesn't own much white. Since birthdays, holidays, and events cost money, I made it a personal goal to spend as little to no money at all on making the accessories and props.
As you can tell, this post is about my main accessory, the crown.

Fluff and Fluff
About a week ago I found yarn for sale at WalMart [half price!] and I just HAD to buy them! I got four skeins, two white, one pink, and one blue/white mix. The first thing I made with it was a sheep! How could I not? And it's way more easier to work with than the other fluffy yarn since it's a different kind of fluffy.

Cake and Fluffy Phonestraps
What do people even do with amigurumi and plushie cakes anyway? I mean, sure it's cute and all...but it really only exists for display purposes. And hats. Little cake hats. Those are cute.

Classic/Mori Prize Progress
Finally finished up the classic prize pack for the June Giveaway. Instead of the usual lace or even adding a ruffle to the bow, I made my own. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what kind to make, like flowers or cherries, but I couldn't seem to get it down or it was just to big. Instead I altered a design I saw and simplified it, making it smaller and easier to manage.

Petticoat Parade part four
Highschool Creme! Wearing some kind of either gathered maxi-length dress or a short fringed dress. I haven't decided. Either way, she's definitely the talk of the halls, and not exactly in a good way. I've personally never experienced anything like this growing up, but I do hear talk about other students staring and stuff from friends who attended different schools. In this case, Creme went to one of those schools.

Petticoat Parade part three
The two pages from inbetween the two from last post! These two were also very similar because the subject was about Creme in her dream dress [Angelic Pretty's Twinkle Mermaid] and having a moment where she felt magical.
