Moo+Etsy Cards

Moo's got this collaboration thing with Etsy, so I was able to get 50 free cards, just had to pay shipping. I think it's a pretty good deal since using there was no charge in using photos. Makes for some pretty rad business cards since they display the types of things being made. I just wish I could pick how many of each card I would get! I would've rather had an extra of any other card than the Bunka Doll...

I put the sticker on the back of my phone. ;3

They're awesome and sturdy, way better than the Vistaprint cards!

Round Flowers and Mori Pins

First, I made a page for Chasing the Frill - > Chasing the Frill on Facebook Woohoo. ;3

Made more mori-inspired pins, some more mori than others. The photos of the round pins are prior to sewing the parts down.

I really like this one. The white buttons have been sewn down with black thread. It's probably the mori-est of the pins because of the darker and earthy tones.

Vanilla Pink Bunny

Finally completed this oddly cute bunny. I actually finished it on the 22nd, but I wanted to wait until after Christmas. Yeah, this is a Christmas gift, not *from* me though. But she did get to pick the colors and how it would be distributed, hence the color combo. I quite like the bright pink and vanilla white together, but it's much too bright for me to use for personal items. Oh well.

Pre-assembly, to see how it would look all together. It's kinda like it's wearing a sweater. The color in the specific pieces make it look kind of panda like too.

Round Flower Pin

Weather's been getting colder here in San Diego. Or maybe it's just my house, specifically my room. The sun has been out lately, and I'm sure that things feel okay outside, but my room has just been so cold! I haven't been out in two days, I would know. Yesterday night [aka this morning at some ungodly hour] I tried a new style of pin. Like most pins I make, I usually have mori girl in mind.

Nothing is actually sewn down in the photo. I just wanted to check layout. The blue flower is actually made from the leftover yarn I used in this bunny. The reason it's so thin is because I unraveled the yarn. Four individual strings, which involved lots of twisting, pulling, and some untangling. But this way I can make more delicate flowers and get four items made with the amount I would usually use for one! Although, next time I'll probably make it a bit shorter, as there was extra that ended up getting used for the ring.

Animal Scarf updates

I've been greatly neglecting the current commissions I have. One for a dual-colored bunny, and the other for a deer. I've just been pretty busy recently, that I either forget or don't have time to work. But mostly forgetting. My deadline for the pink/vanilla one is Christmas, so I'll probably finish it first. Especially since I've already been paid for it.

Autumn Craft Swap

I got my craft exchange package last week actually, but I wanted to wait until the official photo post was up on EGL. But first, have a bit of my art project from two-three weeks ago.

14x16 inches I think? I don't know, I'm too lazy to check the size. We were supposed to make use of space and texture [visual, simulated, and actual texture. I used a bunch of fabric I wasn't doing much with. And a magazine cut out for the water because I almost forgot about the simulated texture. The deer and the sky is my favorite though, the sky is painted and has a pink tulle overlay. I was very pleased with this project <3

Now then, onto what I received in the swap!

Bunka Doll

For the current craft swap on EGL, I was magically paired up with a Sweet Lolita! I'm not very good at making sweet themed things, mostly because my supplies tend to follow the classic/gothic route in terms of lolita, as well as mori girl and more oriental styles, so it was a little difficult to decide what to make. My fabrics were all the wrong colors and styles, but I managed to dig some other fabric I got from my sister. One was the perfect color for a skin tone and the other was an Alice blue.

I thought, what could I make with this though? Then I remember a Lolita at PMX [which I attended last weekend] was wearing a Bunka doll pin on her jacket! Her pin was very cute, I think it was wearing a bear kigurumi/suit...And it was quite small too. I really liked it. So I decided to have a go at making a sweet styled bunka doll!

I didn't really use a pattern, but I used some tutorials as guidelines for some parts. Like the legs for example, since with this method, I didn't have to make legs then sew on "shoes" over them.

Blue Mint Bunny Scarf Progress #2

Progress photos! I actually finished the scarf weeks ago, but kept forgetting to upload the photos. Here is most of the pieces, with the head being started.

Because there were no ear shape/length specifications [i forgot to say that i could mod it], I just opted for the short rounded ears, since it was meant as a gift and I couldn't remember the age of the girl it was intended for. I figured shorter ears would suit someone younger, as longer ears could get in the way/in her face. I personally prefer the shorter ears myself, because I don't like the longer ears brushing against the bottom of my face when they're up.

Blue Mint Bunny Scarf Progress

While watching Tron: Legacy Thursday evening, I started on a new bunny scarf. Aside from my first bunny, this probably the fastest I've got the scarf done, as I've just completed it about a half hour ago. Even though it's just the scarf right now, it's the most tedious part, so with that out of the way, the rest of the bunny should be done by the end of the night, or by tomorrow night. I'm thinking a black ribbon or a white crochet bow accessory.

AoD MiMi "Leilah-Marie"

In non-crochet business, I got some velvet flowers from Japan. I was in a local group order for it and I just bought them on impulse while I had the chance. They're really quite lovely, but I can't think of anything to attach them to/accessory to make from them. I braided my hair yesterday and wove them in, so they're pretty nice as is with just the wire. I might just keep them that way and weave them into things as needed.
Also, made the bow at a Lolita craft meet up. It's got a snappy clip in the back. I need more fabric bows.

Mori Pins

Flowers for mori-pins. Instead of just making pins one at a time as I go, I think it would be more efficient to make all the pieces and then assemble. This way, all I gotta do is pick a flower, some trim, and get to work.

Custom "lace" I crocheted. Varying lengths mostly because counting stitches for something like this is kind of unnecessary, and it makes the piece even more...one of a kind.

I bought new yarn today. I have four scarves I need to make, three bunnies and one deer. Sadly, I couldn't find the preferred color of purple, so I'm going to either need to look through more stores or settle on the ones that were available. But for now, I've got enough to keep me busy!

Biscotti

I made biscotti last weekend. It was a good reason to buy almond extract. Stuff smells super delicious. And the biscotti tasted great too. I had it Lady Grey last night, and it was excellent! Especially since I'd been crunching on the stuff plain the past week, last night was my first time getting to dip it. Heavenly~ I'm glad I didn't bother with a chocolate coating. Although, once the weather gets really cold, I think some chocolate coated biscotti and coffee would be really pleasant.

Variety of Flower Badges

Update! Yeah! Flowers! Four flower pins with chains. I've added a pearl to each since this photo, so they're all done now. I especially like the blue one, I think it goes really well with the pearl in the center.

return from unofficial hiatus

So I kind of dropped off the earth in terms of updating this blog. I did craft here and there, trying new things and sending off the bear scarf. School started a few weeks ago, so my work ethic kind of sank. Shame on me, I know. I'll be getting back into posting more often with things I've made and eventually updating the shop since almost all of the items have expired.

Until next time.

Flora

Flowers! Made a few with leftover red yarn. I wanted to see what I could make with a five petal flower, but they looked kind of odd when I lined up straight like a headband. When lined up in an arc, they seemed like they could be a necklace or a large two pin brooch, like something that could be pinned to the corner or center of something [like a pillow or the flap of a bag or the top of a tote] or even maybe holding together the top of an unbuttoned cardigan.

And then I made smaller flowers and put them over, so they could be like the pins I made for some craft swaps. The red flower in the photo is part of the three at the top. I'm unsure what to do about it, since I don't have enough red to make all the red into pins and I don't know how appealing the 3-flower arc is.
But more flowers to come, they're nice and I like making them. Much more than bows.

Floral Headband

Been working on and off with this. Made one flower, then made the rest, sewed them together, sewed on elastic. Took me a few weeks to actually do it all of course, and I'm sure I could easily do it all in one sitting. I'm pretty satisfied with how it looks, but if I hadn't lost my small hook I might've added smaller flowers to go over the larger flowers [does that make sense?]

Worn photo, as this one is meant for my personal collection / as a test.

Bear Scarf Progress #3

Just needs eyes! And maybe an ear adjustment...if he needs it. I can't tell. I'm afraid his tail is too big, but if I cut too much from the pompom it might fall apart...

Bear Scarf Progress #2

Photo only post!

Bear Scarf Progress

A bear! Kind of. This is currently a sample bear head. Ears haven't been made yet, so his two other legs + doodle are there to represent them. He's meant to resemble a mascot, that's why his eyes and mouth are different.

Tonari no Totoro

I made cookies.
Completely unrelated to CtF.
But I just want to show them off.

Hats, Pompoms, and Bows

Recall that silly hat I tried to make? Here it is. It looks like a tea cup! I blame my laziness since I triple and double crocheted to make the stitches bigger.

For some reason, the top caved in, I have no idea why. Apparently I can't make a flat circle. That, or it needs support on the inside.

Photo Frame

I saw something like this somewhere and forgot to download the pattern. But I wanted to make it anyway, and last night seemed like a good time to do it! Because I didn't do the math, I ended up with either one or two few stitches, leaving a gap between scallops The ribbon and pearls are there to hide this flaw. That aside, I think it turned out quite nicely.

I just wish I had more printed photos. I want to make more and put a purikura pictures in them.

Purple PomPom

Had a go at making a really full pompom. I gotta say, I really like cutting them to shape, but I couldn't get a perfect ball. But over all, I think it still looks cute. At some point it looked a little like a heart, but when I tried to refine it into a heart shape it didn't work out...

Twitter

I have one.

So, if you're interested in little tidbits aside from usual posts, go ahead and follow it.
Also, I now have a name for the Mascot!

This is Catsby! First name is still being thought of, but so far, this is what he looks like.

In other almost non-crochet related crafts...

I actually made this years ago, but found it recently.

Craft Swap

I'm currently involved in three swaps/exchanges on EGL, a craft swap, a free for all [craft/art/bought], and an art swap.
This particular mix is for the craft swap. And considering my lack of a following, I'm sure she won't be seeing it!

Blue Bunny Scarf

Finished the blue bunny scarf today! Yay! And the sun is still out, so I've got naturally lit photos.

In Between Stuff

Since scarf work can get kind of monotonous [the actual scarf part], I made other things in between to keep things interesting for myself. Although, I make a lot of bows, so I don't really know how interesting that is, but it's quick satisfaction of finishing. But I am -almost- done with the scarf. Just another few more inches, then assembly!

Mini aqua bow bobby pin set. I think I'll buy actual bobby pin settings eventually...

Rosey Badge

Left over yarn! Good for small projects. This is a simple rose badge with ribbon and a pin back. It would probably make a nice hair accessory too, but my hair is black, so the ribbon blends too much...

Blue Bunny Scarf progress

It looked so weird without ears, so the legs are temporary ears for this photo...

Started on the blue bunny today. Since I was home all day, I didn't have a lot of distractions [besides the internet of course]

Red Velvet Bunny Scarf

Isn't it great when the background blurs itself out to hide my clothes and scarves? Fantastic.
Officially finished the red bunny scarf commission today! And the white accents on the red remind me of red velvet cake. Although, I'm sure in sunlight/natural light it would look more like it, as the lamp in my room makes it a little dark...

Red Bunny Scarf progress 3

All most done! Just need to stuff the legs and attach all the limbs! After that is the pocket/loop/strap-whatever that the bottom half gets tucked into to keep the scarf on, and then finally the tail~

Lots of yarn left over, which really surprises me, after the few other crafts I did with it I expected less. Of course, it will definitely shrink after the tail!

Stars

I felt like making paper stars the other day. And I still have a few stars left too.

Red Bunny Scarf progress 2

Continued progress photos! Woo~

Finished both ears and attached them to the head. I had to re-write the pattern for them, but they look good. And I can offer more customizing options.

Red Bunny Scarf progress

Second bunny scarf commission! Woo.
I know I said I'd have worn photos of the lace bows, but that'll have to wait for a later post.

Now, progress pictures!

Incomplete head! I just like taking in-progress photos...
